You be the Judge

I am sick and tired of hearing about imposed by Google punishment for selling and buying links because every reasonable person knows that approximately 2% of sites are involved in these sorts of activities and the rest of the Internet hardly knows that SE and directories must index their sites in order for them to be noticed by the public at large. I don’t have problems with greedy SEOs getting some kicks in the ass but because PR affected 98% of the rest of sites owners whose sites had nothing to do with link manipulation and whose only fault was linking to sites they like is turning my stomach inside out.

I don’t have to go to far for a good example because I know for a fact that our company never sold or bought 1 single link. According to Webmaster tools we have 8,000 inbound links to our directory, which our users and visitors posted in their sites without us telling them to do so. Yes, we offer them to link to us by providing them with 2 lines of code but no one is making linking obligatory. People are doing that because they like our directory and how their sites are presented to our visitors and their links to our directory is their vote for our popularity. No one should be punished for linking to sites they like and no one has any right to tell site owners how they should use their sites.

Google made a big deal when they introduced their PR system and was very ecstatic about how People will decide with their links who is the best among us. So what are they doing today to people who went alone and voted with their links? Google penalized them for doing just that. Yah, yah, I know “casualties of the war” and sacrifices need be made in order to make the Internet a better place for all of us. But, who the hell deputized them to be a sheriff, judge and executioner? Why is it that they decide what the Internet should look like and how it should function and the way people who made by the way Google whatever they are today, should behave themselves?

Yes, I know, this is their SE and they are entitled to do whatever they want and if we don’t like it, though luck. Google says put robot.txt if you don’t want Google to crawl your site and it will solve your entire PR issues. Lets see what would happen if the bad practices they employ bring lawsuits and bad publicity and moms and pops sites learn that Google penalized them for nothing. And then, we all post robot.txt and kick Google where the sun doesn’t shine and all Google will be left with is old cache and old crappy links. I am sure Google will get the message when their stock plunges down and maybe finally understand that they are nearly the messengers and that we are the message and that without our sites they are nothing.

Do you want backlinks?

One will argue that back link is beneficial for site owner only but as we
found long time ago this perception has flaws and reflecting only the face
side of the coin.

Some people will say: its ridicules and there is no other side to that coin
and never will and it would be stupid in business to link to someone else’s
site if they are a competitor. But savvy webmasters already know that if
they publish unflattering article about competitors prices and services and
link to their site so the public can go there to compare competition
offerings to their own and G. picked up their article and then passes it to
Joe Shmoh, sooner or later they’ll get visit from voyager Joe because Google
among other search results to competitors site exposed their own site.

Curiosity killed the cat. and here you have it:
a. Joe visit your site
b. Joe buys your services.
Visitor who otherwise never would see the color of your page is buying your
products and that is what I would call: smart marketing stragedy.

Am I saying: put as many links to other sites as you can? You bet I do.

Alexa Sucks (big way)

Yap, it’s official now.

This little bitch are goind down on her knees more often than $2.oo whore to perform the most vigorous sucking, Deep Throat style.

If you went to see your Traffic Details on Sep. 19, 2007 then you know what I am talking about. As usual in her, now become perpetual, 2 days behind “Yesterday” (what a joke) Traffic Details, she proofed that sucking is not just her preferred hobby but also her permanent job.

To Mr. Geoffrey Mack

It would be better if instead of trying to figure out how to stop cheaters, you work and fix your never-ending problems with your bogus daily stats.
Your Traffic Details “Yesterday” results at least 2, 3 or even 6 day old in the past 3 month and I wish you stop embarrassing yourselves and at the very least change Yesterday to something like ‘Last taken’.

It won’t provide you with more credibility but at least you stop shouting to the public “we are incompetent bunch of morons”

DMOZ again

DMOZ sucks… ya, ya I know another rant by frustrated rejected “victim”, but lets be realistic. You don’t have to believe me all you have to do is to search for something like Bands and then read Titles and Descriptions that ODP “geniuses” editors applied to links to appreciate why I said DMOZ sucks.

The ones that I like the most, where they used URL as a Title and ‘Official Site’ or ‘Fan Site’ as Descriptions. You must be “genius” to come up with something like that. I am not going to mention (ya right) 3 years waiting period before some “volunteer slave” editor decide to take a pick in his “suggested by losers” bin to cheer up himself with good laugh.
